Automated Installation of Dump1090-Mutability, Data Feeders, and Performance Graphs

For anyone who still has dump1090-mutability installed but cannot get the map or graphs working, try to change the ownership of the /run/dump1090-mutability directory: ~ $ sudo chown -R dump1090:nogroup /run/dump1090-mutability (Some recent versions of fr24feed had mistakenly set the ownership...

    Plane Finder Client Beta2 (3.0.1435)

Just FYI: I'm seeing "poll timeout occurred, restarting..." messages when things are quiet overnight with no traffic. So this looks like normal behaviour: it always reconnects and sends updates when and if there is something to report. UPDATE: It looks like the client is restarting 6 times in...

    Plane Finder Client Beta2 (3.0.1435)

    My client had stopped again. I started it just to get current reading of CPU: 1929 dump1090 15 -5 16996 8252 1940 R 39.8 1.9 551:15.05 dump1090-mutabi 3778 root 20 0 28200 2592 2312 S 2.6 0.6 0:02.59 pfclient 2012 root 20 0 72256 14m 8116 S 1.0 3.2 2:38.96...

New Plane Finder Sharing Client - Beta Thread

My feeder seems to have stopped last night around midnight. I'm away from my setup and only noticed in the online stats that I had nothing for today. Remotely rebooted the Pi and I'm now starting to see stats for today.

New Plane Finder Sharing Client - Beta Thread

Actually I don't think it was actively open when it stopped refreshing. I was away from the laptop with the lid closed. But I think even then it does some periodical updates in the background. When I came back to it, I had quick glances at both Dump1090 and PF maps and noticed that they did not...

New Plane Finder Sharing Client - Beta Thread

I had a crash today (version .450). I noticed that the map was not updating any more. Not sure what logs to check and how to restart the client, so I rebooted to Pi. The only thing I see is in syslog: Apr 20 21:54:04 piaware pfclient: *** glibc detected *** /usr/bin/pfclient: double free or...

Web Portal and Collectd/rrd graphs automated installation

Yes, in my opinion, it's not a good idea to generate image at one size and then stretch/squash them to fit another size. Best to generate them exactly at the desired size and then display them without distortion :)

Web Portal and Collectd/rrd graphs automated installation

Thanks bramj, that works! I actually removed the sizing parameters from /var/www/collectd/index.html because they are not needed when the png images are already at the desired size. The section you mentioned looks like this now: <div style="width: 2390px; height: 273px;"> <img...

Web Portal and Collectd/rrd graphs automated installation

OK, I see what is happening here: In /home/pi/dump-tools/collectd/make-graphs.sh, all graphs are defined as: --width 480 \ --height 200 \ But because the first graph (message rate) has both left and right scales it ends up wider than all the others (by an extra 51 pixels). I tried to edit...

Web Portal and Collectd/rrd graphs automated installation

Sorry I wasn't clear. I'm not concerned about the actual graphs and I realise they will fill up as the day goes on. I was talking about the whole "box" with the CPU graph inside it. The CPU box is somehow smaller than the Message Rate box above it. And come to think about it, the Max Range box...

Web Portal and Collectd/rrd graphs automated installation

Ran install script today. It worked without a hitch and graphs are starting to populate. Well done and thank you! I wonder why the CPU graph is not left-aligned. Can you do anything about that?

New Plane Finder Sharing Client - Beta Thread

I like to see a feature on the local client web page. When showing details about a plane, could you make the ADSHEX or Callsign info a clickable link that brings you to the online version where you can see more about the plane, route, etc?

New Plane Finder Sharing Client - Beta Thread

On Pi B+, using port 30005 with current message rate of ~100/sec I have: dump1090-mutability ~39% pfclient ~1-2%
