I would just leave it there as it then starts to get a bit advanced. It won't take up any CPU/RAM as it only runs when you ask it to

There is no way to stop logging but to change the log directory the option is

"--log_path=<text>" - Ensure no trailing slash is present

Out of interest why do you want to do this?

Writing many times on a SD card is not a good way to preserve it's life :) How can I pass this to the daemon when starting with "service pfclient start" ?

You will have to edit the init scripts yourself as we don't support that config really as we use the logs, especially during this beta.

I think you are being overly cautious though with the SD card. The log writes are minimal and I don't think it would wear out the card!

Bit OT. When I can find my shared data page on planefinder site?

Still not reached home, but succeeded in installing pfclient beta by SSH from my phone, using phone's data network.

To configure, I had to open port 30053 in my router's firewall. Did this also from my phone, this time using Google's "Remote Desktop" to access my desktop, then from desktop accessed router, and in router's firewall, opened port 30053 for RPi, then configured pfclient from my phone.

Beautiful! Superb! Well done Planefinder. Congratulations Lee & Mark.

Dear all,

As this is a beta we are keeping a close eye on uptime and notice a few have gone offline already and we can't tell if it's crashed or if you have simply shut it down yourselves.

Are you able to keep an eye on both the web interface of the client and the sharing site and ensure you data is being decoded and uploaded?

Thanks

I shut mine down inadvertently.
I was trying to delete node.js & old PFClient. I deleted folder /opt/node and got rid of node ... so far so good. Then Itried to delete old PFClient, and gave command "sudo rm -rf /etc/init.d/pfclient" (or something like this), and the beta pfclient crashed :(. When I tried to reinstall by command sudo dpkg -i xxxx.deb, it gave a lot of error messages including some missing file (presumably I deleted those unknowingly).

I have now formatted my microSD Card and have installed Raspbian Wheezy. I will now proceed with installation of dump1090-mutability, then PFClient (beta).

Well this is nothing new for me. before this formatting, I have formatted my microSD card about a dozen times :D due to crashes etc. I prefer to have a clean install instead of breaking my head to fix a broken or corrupted software.

Great. Thanks for letting me know.

/etc/init.d/pfclient is the new init script we deploy as part of the package. I think your one was /etc/init.d/pfclient.sh ??

Either way a clean install is good. Switch across to a raw data feed if possible too, use port 30005 and beast binary format.
