Tracking Malaysian flight search planes?

We have seen VH-TGG which is private jet being flown out of Perth for the search
Reason is because it has large windows giving searchers a much better view than from most aircraft.
Rather nice inside too!

We have also been tracking one of the US Navy's P-8 Poseidon aircraft.
Tail number is 168429

You should see those and maybe others too if you keep an eye on Perth in Plane Finder.

I wonder if the military planes are using civilian modes to make themselves visible to the non-military flights in the area. I guess the search area is a bit too far out to get direct ADS-B reception!

The search location is well out of ADS-B range. We have great coverage in Perth but this won't extend out to the Ocean. It is possible that some of those military aircraft are making themselves visible when they can choose not to.

Well I did manage to snag one returning flight from the search area just now:

Hex Code: 7C610E
Registration: VH-TGG
Flight no.: VHTGG
Airline: Corporate Flight International (VEGAS HEAT)
Manufacturer: Bombardier
Model: Global Express
Type: GLEX

No military flights though. I'd think that the P-8 might send ADS codes...

All Perth planes fly right over me. I have seen VH-LAL VH-LAW and VH-TGG.
As well as the Orions and P8-A jets.
